Eagles class have begun this term maintaining their hard working and focused attitudes. We are all extremely impressed and are looking forward to all the exciting learning we have planned!
Our topic for this half term is: William Shakespeare.
In line with our new topic, we are currently working on a a newspaper report based on William Shakespeare's Macbeth. We are using Andrew Matthews' adapted version for junior readers, as well as animations created by BBC Teach. The children are really enjoying this text and I am looking forward to seeing their journalistic talents!
In our reading lessons, we are exploring Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. The children have been particularly focusing on their inference skills and have hugely impressed with their insightful thoughts. We are all looking forward to learning more about life during WWII using this historical fiction text.
In maths this half term, we are continuing our unit on perimeter, area and volume. So far, we have focused on finding the area of a triangle and have been consolidating our previous learning on algebra by using formulaic expressions. As we move through the term, we will be learning how to find the area of a parallelogram and exploring volume. Our next unit is ratio, which is a new skill for Eagles, but I know they will tackle it with their consistently dedicated and focused attitudes.
This term, we have also introduced 'Flashback 4' at the beginning of each lesson. This consists of four questions from our previous learning so children are continually practising the skill of recalling taught concepts, allowing these skills to become embedded in their long term memory. As well as this, we have also introduced a 'Recap and Revisit' session, which currently focuses on the objectives taught during remote learning, enabling children to consolidate their understanding.
Here are our topics for other areas of the curriculum:
SPaG – Formal language and punctuation
Science - Animals Including Humans
RE - Judaism
PSHE – Being Me in My World
PE - Cricket and athletics
Forest School

As always, we are very proud of Eagles class and are looking forward to another exciting term!
