Spring Term

Happy new year to you all! We hope you've all had a restful and enjoyable festive period.

Our topic this term is ‘Extreme Weather’ which we have been experiencing first hand over the past month or so! We will be learning about hurricanes/tornadoes, flooding, heatwave/drought, and other extreme weather conditions that cause havoc and harm to our environment. We will explore the long-term effects that weather has on communities, habitats, and our earth. We will also explore how global warming and climate change has come about and what we can do to address it.

Maths:

Maths learning this term will start with multiplication and division, followed by length and perimeter.  Additionally, we will learn arithmetic skills daily and continue to practice times tables regularly.  We encourage children to practice the times tables independently at home using Times Tables Rockstars – please do come and see us if your child needs a reminder of their log in details.

In our reading lessons we have started to look at the book called " The last Wild".

This is a story about a boy named Kester. He is extraordinary, but he doesn't know that yet. All he knows, at this very moment, is this:
1. There is a flock of excited pigeons in his bedroom.
2. They are talking to him.
3. His life will never be quite the same again...

After half term we will be moving onto: Varjak Paw

Kester lives in a land in quarantine. A deadly virus has killed all the animals except pests, and it's expected to be equally dangerous to humans. But when Kester realises, he can talk to the pests, he finds they have great hope invested in him.

A captivating animal adventure destined to be loved by readers of all ages.
